They advertise Guilds Wars in the US edition of PC Gamer on a monthly basis. The most recent issue even has a Guild Wars ad on the back cover. Also, I would think Guild Wars fits in the "sleeper hit" catagory when it comes to games. Not a whole lot of people know about it now since all the big titles take up most of the space. However, I think one of the cool things about Guild Wars is how it has spread just because people talk about it. Player X tells Player Y about Guild Wars, and Player Y tells Player Z, and so one and so forth.
Oh, and screw G4TV.

I have seen a number of print ads and interviews. And I assume they plan to release the cinematic trailor in movies somewhere. But it has been a long time since I went to the movies.

My friend just told me they showed clips on Guild Wars on Cinematech. Its a show on G4 thats shows clips of games in a certain genre or catagory. Today's must have been MMO's becuase he said they showed FFXI and WoW, and told me that the WoW trailor (not actual gameplay) looked the best. But from all the complaints I heard about WoW on these boards, the game doesnt seem too appealing.
To Decoy : Im not a real big fan of G4 after they changed from TechTV, either, but G4 still has its shows worth watching. (Arena, The Screen Savers, and Cinematech. X-Play is constantly reviewing crap games) If I knew how, Id be downloading the 'Call for Help' series from Canada, seeing as thats the only place it shows now.

I just was there to pick up my preorder and found no displays or posters showing Guild wars. This may be due to us going to different eb game stores.
|
I run an EB Games and we JUST got marketing materials for it on Wednesday, They sent us a cool standee of the Necro Female, as well as large oversized boxes for strategic positioning throughout the store.
I'll be honest with you; since Wow came out I have been pretty dedicated to it, but the more and more I see on GW (including the super high glossy high quality display boxes we just got in) the more and more I want to play it and leave wow and it's problems in the dust. Me saying that does not come lightly, as I believe it to be a great game, but slightly lacking in a couple areas.
Anyway, since we put up the materials they've set us, we've seen an increase of preorders of about 75% in two days. I imagine that by this time next week, we'll have *at least* quadrupled (sp?) our pre orders. At least at this rate.
